OPENING a new play area was child’s play for the Mayor of Blackpool.
Elan Homes invited The Worshipful the Mayor of Blackpool, Councillor Peter Hunter and Mayoress Anne-Marie Hunter to Redwood Gardens to cut the ribbon to officially open the play area.
But The Mayor jumped at the chance to test out the equipment and was the first person to use the seesaw.
Cllr Peter Hunter, Mayor of Blackpool, said: “I was delighted to be asked to officially open the new play area at Redwood Gardens. I’m sure it will be well used by local families as a new community is created in the area.”
The new play area includes a log step, sit and spin, plus dragonfly seesaw and play hut. Seating is provided so that parents and carers can take a break while supervising play.
Spanning just over 10 acres, Redwood Gardens was the first Lancashire acquisition for Cheshire-based Elan.
The homebuilder acquired the land in 2021 and released the first homes for sale “off plan” in 2022. The original show home opened that summer and at the start of 2024, Elan moved out of that property into a new show home.
Elan regional sales and marketing director Marie Morris said: “Redwood Gardens has become a thriving new community and somewhere people love living. While we’ll be building and selling new homes in Marton Moss until 2026 we wanted to make the play area available for the community at the earliest opportunity. We’re grateful to the Mayor and Mayoress for taking time to officially open it. We hope younger residents will make good use of the play area, enjoying fun and games and forming friendships with their new neighbours.”
Current availability at Redwood Gardens includes a choice of three and four-bedroom homes, perfect for families.
They’re ideally located in an established residential area, well-served by good and outstanding schools. There are plenty of opportunities to explore the outdoors close to home, with a choice of beaches within easy reach, providing opportunities to spot wildlife, build sandcastles or try open water swimming.
