New homes in Lowton could be the answer to homebuyers’ prayers.
Elan Homes is preparing to release the first new homes on the Newton Road site from early July by appointment only.
Known as St Catherine’s Gardens, the development will offer a choice of three and four-bedroom properties which will be showcased by two show homes – a three- bedroom Fairford and four-bedroom Sheldon.
Elan acquired the 1.78 acre parcel of land on Newton Road from the Archdiocese of Liverpool.
Marie Morris, sales director for Elan Homes, said: “Elan has previously built new homes in nearby Croft and Culcheth and people in the Lowton area have been eagerly awaiting the launch of this latest development. We’re honouring the history of the site by naming the development after the church that occupied the land until 2018. We’re pleased to be bringing a previously developed site back into good use by providing much-needed new homes for the local community.”
St Catherine’s Gardens will offer 20 open market homes, including three and four-bedroom semi-detached and detached designs, ranging from 933 sq ft to 1497 sq ft. Prices for the properties will be announced at the launch, with the sales centre and show home open by appointment only.
There will also be six affordable homes consisting of two-bedroom Audley and three-bedroom Howden house types, which will be available, subject to criteria, through a shared equity scheme at 70% of the open market value.
Existing trees at the rear of the site are being retained and additional trees will be planted.
“Having access to outside space has become increasingly important to following the Coronavirus restrictions with people wanting to get out and about on foot or bike. The homes we’re building in Lowton are around two miles from Pennington Flash Country Park with 200 acres to explore. We’re investing almost £45,000 in the country park so local people can continue to enjoy the biodiverse reserve,” Marie added.
“There’s also a growing awareness of the natural environment and a desire to live more sustainably. We’ll be providing electric vehicle charging points for homeowners at St Catherine’s Gardens and offering homes for nature in the shape of bird boxes and bat bricks.”
Elan will also make a £25,000 off-site contribution towards affordable housing locally.
With easy access to both Liverpool and Manchester, homes at the development will appeal to commuters. Situated in the catchment area for schools in nearby Culcheth, the properties are also sure to be popular with families.
