NEW homes coming soon to Drakes Broughton will bring more than £200,000 of investment in community facilities.
Elan Homes has detailed consent to build 32 homes on a 4.56 acre site on Walcot Lane.
Work to prepare the land for new homes started in November and the first properties are due to be released for sale later this month (February).
The development, known as Walcot Meadow, will bring with it a package of community investment, known as Section 106 contributions.
David Summers, managing director for Elan Homes in the Midlands and a Wychavon District Council constituent, said: “Walcot Meadow is a prime example of how Elan is in a strong position to fill a gap in the housing market by creating schemes of 20 to 80 units in sustainable locations.
“We acquired the land with planning, but amended the plans to lower ridge heights and increase the space between plots in order to be more sympathetic to neighbouring properties and allow everyone to enjoy the stunning views of the Malvern Hills and surrounding landscape. The result is a development that will offer much-needed, well-designed quality homes and will also include an area of public open space.
“We will also be investing in the local area, contributing more than £30,000 to off-site open space, plus almost £90,000 in sports facilities. Further funding worth almost £50,000 has been allocated to education, with funding also earmarked for junction improvements, cycling and recycling. These investments in the community are designed to ensure that people continue to love living in Drakes Broughton as the neighbourhood grows.”
Walcot Meadow will feature 19 private sale properties and 13 affordable homes.
A mix of two to five-bedroom homes will soon be released for sale. Prices for the properties will be announced at the launch.
There will be a rare opportunity to live in a brand new bungalow, as Walcot Meadow will include seven bungalows, five for private sale and two affordable rented properties.
Elan’s previous Worcestershire developments include Merrybrook Grange in Evesham and Derrington Mews in Kempsey.
The company will soon be starting work on another development, Stableford, off Newtown Road a mile from Worcester town centre. That scheme will offer a choice of three, four and five-bedroom homes.
